Bartahun-tahun Dr. Kazuo Murakami melakukan penelitian tentang sel dan gen, sampai suatu saat dia menyimpulkan bahwa dia telah berhasil menemukan rahasia kehidupan. Ia telah menemukan cara dan keahlian untuk membaca cetak biru hidup manusia. Suatu hal yang luar bisa. Namun, semakin jauh ia mempelajari, bahkan satu sel saja, semakin ia menemukan kerumitan yang semakin tinggi. Dan akhirnya ia pun menyadari bahwa kenyataan hidup manusia tidaklah sesederhana itu.

Kekaguman demi kekaguman dialami oleh Dr. Kazuo Murakami terhadap hasil temuannya sendiri. “Sesuatu Yang Agung”, begitulah Dr. Kazuo Murakami yang rendah hati menyebut perihal siapa yang telah membuat milyaran kode dan menyimpannya secara misterius di dalam sebutir sel manusia.
Tak dipungkiri lagi bahwa dalam setiap butir sel tubuh manusia terdapat kode genetika yang memuat blue print perjalanan hidupnya. Apa yang tidak tertulis di dalam gennya, tidak akan dapat dilakukan olehnya. Namun di sisi lain, Dr. Kazuo Murakami menemukan bahwa kode-kode genetika tersebut bukanlah suatu hal yang tidak bisa berubah. Melainkan dapat diatur atau diberi perintah untuk berubah. Lebih tepatnya, kita sekarang menjadi tahu bahwa gen-gen yang selama ini mati (tak aktif) dapat dihidupkan. Pada akhirnya, dari hal ini bisa disimpulkan bahwa potensi manusia sebenarnya tak terbatas. Apalagi kini telah diketahui bahwa hanya 5 hingga 10 persen saja dari gen kita yang aktif; sisanya masih belum diketahui apa yang dilakukan gen-gen itu.

Bagaimana sebuah pikiran dapat mengubah kode genetika, memang belum sepenuhnya diketahui cara kerjanya. Sebuah eksperimen dilakukan oleh Dr. Kazuo Murakami pada tahun 2003, yang menghasilkan bukti ilmiah yang mendukung efek pemikiran positif pada gen. Ia menemukan bahwa faktor pikiran juga ikut serta dalam mengubah status gen menjadi aktif atau non-aktif.
Lebih spesifik lagi, faktor-faktor positif seperti kegembiraan, kebahagiaan, kepercayaan dan doa, dapat mengaktivasi transkripsi gen-gen yang bermanfaat. Sedangkan faktor-faktor negatif, seperti kegelisahan, stres, kesedihan, rasa takut dan sakit, dapat juga menonaktifkan transkripsi gen-gen yang sesungguhnya bermanfaat. Sesuatu yang membuat kita bahagia dapat mengaktifkan gen-gen positif. Sebaliknya, trauma psikologis atau pun kesedihan yang mendalam dapat mengaktifkan gen-gen yang merugikan dan mematikan gen-gen positif.
Puluhan tahun Dr. Kazuo Murakami menjadikan sel dan genetika menjadi subyek penelitiannya. Semakin dalam ia menyelami dan merefleksikan terhadap pengalaman-pengalamannya sendiri, semakin ia memahami bahwa kehidupan manusia benar-benar terprogram secara unik bagi setiap individunya. Setiap karakter manusia adalah istimewa, setiap kejadian yang menimpanya dan keputusan-keputusannya adalah istimewa. Dikarenakan setiap kesadaran manusia adalah hasil seleksi dari 70 trilyun kemungkinan yang ada. ()
